Justin Sowder, MD

A native of West Texas, Dr. Justin C. Sowder, MD is double board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.S. in Biology followed by medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he graduated as valedictorian and was selected as a member to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He then completed a residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Utah, and a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Vanderbilt University. He joins Finn Plastic Surgery after spending over three years as an Assistant Professor of Facial Plastic Surgery at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sowder has made research contributions to the field of facial plastic surgery in both the clinical and translational realms. He has published articles in peer reviewed journals such as Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Medicine, JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery, Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics of North America, Facial Plastic Surgery, the Journal of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, and The Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, and has been invited to publish book chapters regarding rhinoplasty and facial reanimation following facial paralysis.

Dr. Sowder is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fly fishing, golfing, snow skiing, and watching football. Most importantly, he cherishes spending time with his wife Aleksandra, who is also a physician, their two children, Henry and Emma Cate, and their loyal miniature schnauzer, Maverick.
